About this course

Mathematics

Our course

In years 7, 8 and 9 pupils will undertake a course using the Collins Maths Framework as well as utilising Centre for Innovative Maths Teaching resources. Our curriculum covers the KS3 national curriculum attainment targets up to level 4, 5, 6, 7 or 8, depending on the ability of the pupil.

Our programme naturally lends itself to a high degree of differentiation, therefore whilst the range of topics covered by each student will be similar, the level of work will vary according to the pupil’s ability. We also complement our studies with engaging activities designed to strengthen and challenge student Mathematic application and understanding in preparation for the iGCSE courses taken in years 10 and 11.

Student progress is measured by both formative and summative assessments. Students complete several formative assessments per week to measure understanding and application of concepts and processes with summative assessments or end of topic quizzes occurring once per half term.
