IGCSE Religious Studies Online Course

The aims and objectives of this qualification are to:

  • Develop students’ knowledge and understanding of religious beliefs, values and traditions, through the study of one or more of six major world religions
  • Develop students’ knowledge and understanding of teachings, sources of wisdom and authority, through key religious texts, other texts, and scriptures of the religions they are studying
  • Develop students’ ability to construct well-argued, well-informed, balanced and structured written arguments, demonstrating their depth and breadth of understanding of the subject
  • Provide opportunities for students to engage with questions of belief, value, meaning, purpose, truth, and their influence on human life
  • Challenge students to reflect on and develop their own values, beliefs and attitudes in the light of what they have learned and contribute to their preparation for adult life in a pluralistic society and global community
  • Understand the influence of religion on individuals, communities and societies
  • Understand significant common and divergent views between and/or within religions and beliefs
  • Apply knowledge and understanding in order to analyse questions related to religious
    beliefs and values.

Exam Information

In the October of Year 11, 12 and 13 parents and guardians will receive an email asking which exams the learner intends to take, and where they would like to take them. Parents and guardians must inform InterHigh if they need assistance finding an exam centre by mid-October. InterHigh can support you in finding a local exam centre. It is then down to the individual to register with the centre of choice and pay the exam fees to the centre directly. As each exam centre sets their own fees we cannot provide accurate pricing, however as an example, you can see our own fees by clicking here


Access Arrangements

Physical, medical or learning support needs may be eligible for access arrangements during exams. These can include:
  • Extra time of 25%*
  • Extra time up to 50%*
  • A reader*
  • A scribe*
  • Supervised rest breaks
  • Separate room
  • Use of a laptop
  • Enlarged print exam papers
*These arrangements must be approved by the exam board. The learner will need to undertake learning assessments with an Educational Psychologist or specialist assessor in order to complete the application form. These assessments can take up to 18 months to process. The deadline for application to the exam board is the February of the year that the learner sits exams.

Fee Information

Pupils can choose additional subjects including Religious Studies GCSE online for an added fee per subject, per year.


Additional subjects are charged at an extra cost per subject. This fee can either be paid in full or added to monthly (UK only) and termly payments across the year.
