This may be during the session or week to week as part of an assignment or an independent study activity.

This course is delivered as a series of projects, one per term. Each project follows a broadly similar structure, with an introduction to the topic, planning, research, thinking and reflection stages. Teachers guide students by modelling practical techniques in art and design, so that students can complete a final piece of work by building up a portfolio of artwork etc. Students receive feedback on their final project based on the development of skills in the following areas:

  • Comprehension
  • Creativity and curiosity
  • Critical and courageous thinking

Students create work in their paper sketchbooks, which are then compiled and digitised for online assessment.

Students receive regular feedback throughout this project-based subject on the development of skills in the following areas:

Progress is measured by both formative check points and summative assessments. Formative assessments take place regularly and in a variety of formats ranging from group discussions, class collaborations, research, analysis, quizzes, communication skills, presentations and making activities.
