InterHigh Staff Conference

Last week saw InterHigh hold its first ever staff conference in Bristol. Staff came from across the country to join with the school leadership team and members of the InterHigh and Wey Education board.

The conference opened with an introduction from Jacqui Daniell, CEO of InterHigh followed by presentations from David Massie, Chairman of Wey Education, Tom Scott COO of Wey Education and was rounded off by an inspirational talk from Dame Erica Pienaar, one of Wey’s non-executive directors.

After a short introduction, David gave some background on Wey then went onto explain what the future holds for the school and expanded on the company’s ambitions in online education. David explained how the future plans were a combination of Paul and Jacqui’s future visions and initiatives from Wey. He rounded the presentation by describing how he saw InterHigh becoming a major player in the UK educational market and a “significant provider of education” to students around the world.

Tom looked back at the school’s first year as part of Wey Education and forward to the coming years, giving insights into what the future holds for the development of the school. Tom’s presentation reviewed the positive progress that InterHigh has made since joining the Wey group the ways that staff can be involved in current and future developments.

Dame Erica gave an inspiring talk about child development and learning, touching on the importance of nurturing and creating solid foundations for the future of our pupils. Dame Erica, whose talk expressed sheer enthusiasm and passion for education and young people was undoubtedly motivational to all.

After this, proceedings moved onto a reception and then dinner. Of course like all good schools our staff were given their ‘homework’ with an in-depth quiz covering key facts of the school and points from the earlier presentations.

The event was a great success and allowed staff the chance to reflect on progress, hear the vision for the future and engage in a lively debate.

Sarah Chase, Geography teacher at InterHigh said “I really enjoyed the whole event. It was lovely to put faces to names, meet so many people and have the chance to chat in a relaxed atmosphere. It was great to meet members of the board and hear about the future plans for the school.”

Tom Scott said “I never cease to be impressed by the quality of our staff; the energy in the room during the sessions was palpable and the ideas brought forward to further improve our school shows the determination and dedication of our whole team to helping InterHigh go from strength to strength.”
